The most immature of all the different stages of life, and the one most common to those just going through the Athlete stage, are self-obsession and narcissism.

It's a time when people are overly concerned about their looks and shape and little else matters. Because of their immaturity, people at this stage live as if the universe revolves around them and only them.

They are blind to the struggles of others and since this is also a selfish phase they don't really care to know about it either.

Ironically, while narcissism is a key trait of this face, self-criticism and lack of self-esteem are equally important.

Although these are two extremes, they go hand in hand in the athlete phase.

Either the person's ego is larger than life and impossible to empty, or they lack confidence in themselves. They constantly think about their looks and if they have made any mistakes in the way they present themselves.

Usually, people get stuck at this stage in their youth, but so do those raised by narcissists.

The former is more self-obsessed, but the latter is too prone to self-criticism.
